"Blue hair" meant a different thing when I was growing up. Older ladies with white hair got a 'rinse' that had a bluish tint to it.

Then of course there was Mrs. Slocum.

Anyone else love Are You Being Served? They got away with so many double entendres, especially regarding Mrs. Slocum's cat (which I won't repeat here but you get the idea). Mollie Sugden (the actress, may she rest in peace) said she couldn't believe it, either. Different times. I don't know how she delivered her lines with a straight face.

We would love to hire teens or college students to do small tasks around our property. There just don't seem to be any who do that kind of stuff anymore.

When I was in college we were always on the lookout for small jobs that paid cash. In fact there was an office on campus that handled that. They took calls from the community and posted jobs on 3x5 cards on a bulletin board. You just walked up, picked a card, did the job and voilà! Pocket money for the weekend.

There were all kinds of jobs: manual labor, babysitting, tutoring, housesitting, transcription, elder care, almost anything. Once I modeled outfits from a country club pro shop at a poolside fashion show with several other girls. That was fun!

Same here.
I think kids would rather starve to death instead of mowing a lawn or heaven forbid, pull a weed.

The college I went to also posted jobs.
