So, we picked up 7 pullets from TSC. We have never had chickens before, so would love to know what they are, and perhaps if we have roos. These are about 9 weeks old.

2 Red ones look like this first pick...look like Red Sex-Link to me - like I said, new though. Pretty sure those are hens.

4 of the others have almost a yellow tint to their combs like this one.

The 5th one that looks like the 4 has a larger, more red comb and wattle. This one is also the largest of the bunch.

I suppose I should have included full body shots of the black & white ones to get a good idea what they are...I thought I had those.

So what say the masses...I was hoping we had no roos...looks like we have at least one, and hopefully not 5 of 7!

Curse you TSC!!!!!

TSC has been driving me nuts with everything lately...this shouldn't be new!

They gave me the # for the hatchery saying they take care of mix ups like that. I don't see how it is the hatchery's fault, but I will call on Monday.
We bought pullets specifically so we would have layers...not baby chicks!

The last two pictures are roos. I know that probably isn't what you wanted to hear, but there ya have it. The reason they gave you the hatcheries number is because that is who does the sexing of the chicks. They are not 100% accurate, but typically do have a 90% accuracy rate. Unless you get something like I got - out of 3 sexed pullets I got one roo and one mixed breed and one pure breed pullet. So, it is not an exact science. I am sending pictures to the hatchery today and letting them know they can either send me a replacement or a refund.

Well - not to thrilled with Mt. Healthy Hatchery now either.
I called, and she said that it was TSC's problem - they must have mislabeled the tank. I would have to take it up with TSC - they already said they aren't doing anything.

AGGGGHHHH how frustrating - never doing that again!

Can you post full body shots of the middle bird (and those like it). I am not completely convinced its a roo (although pretty high suspicions). The bottom one is a roo. Wouldn't mind seeing full body shot of him to.

Yeah, but there is also a small chance they could be something else. Thats why I have asked for full body pictures. Just because they resemble something, doesn't always make them that.

Last 2 look like roos to me.

I saw SEVERAL times at TSC people picking up chicks out of the "pullet" bin, turning around to show someone, etc...and then putting it back in another bin--not the one they got it out of

Mixing straight run chicks with only pullets with st run bantams GAAH!
