I'm sure there isn't a person on this forum who hasn't had to learn SOMETHING the hard way. It sounds like you've done an amazing amount of learning, to me you sound very knowledgable.

That sounds exactly like one of my BO chicks. I did figure out what she was doing but it scared the crap out of me the first time it happened. When she dust bathes she looks like she is having a siezure because she is so violent about it. Apparantly she makes herself so weak from this she can't move. Sometimes it is her whole body, sometimes it is only 1/2 of her body. It takes about 15-20 minutes of laying still & then she is perfectly normal. I have seen 1 other of my chicks do this but it recovered much more quickly than her.

Just an FYI.

Birds can recover from Marek's. I agree that it is rare, and I don't think it happens over night, but sometimes the paralysis does go away and the bird is a carrier. I have 3 that have died from Marek's, but I am not culling my entire flock because of it. Some will get it, some will not. I know I am always infected, but that still doesn't mean a death sentence for all the birds I have.

Just my .02 worth.
