Clubbed the tar outta the one husky and reinforced every inch of the pen, as well as bought more chicks and pullets today. Thanks Ronny! Turned the dogs into animal control and they photographed all the damage. They recommended getting pepper spray and said chickens are like crack for dogs, irresistible.

Pepper spray? I'm thinking more along the line of a lead biscuit because if the offenders haven't been caught, you can bet your last chicken they'll be back. You're going to have to dig down and out from your pens, about 8 inches down and 18 inches out, and bury hardware cloth wire to prevent anything from digging in underneath the pen wall. Those are big dogs, and being there's two of them, they are operating and feeding off pack mentality. Best to put a heavy duty latch (two is ideal, one at the base and one at the top) of your hen house because bigger dogs like huskies can easily get a single latch door open. Once a chicken killer, almost always a chicken killer. In your case, times 2. Once again, sorry!

YES! Thanks, I didn't want to say 'lead biscuit' online but my family was on stand by for an imminent shoot out if necessary. There was nothing more terrifying than running outdoors half dressed to protect what was left when I caught the sucker inside the pen. Living with the subsequent guilt of knowing what happened since has been hard. I asked Animal Control if I could kill the dogs, he said yes. I'm nursing a hen back to health after a beak issue and a back wound. She's getting a syringe of elec/vita/antibiotics and lots of TLC indoors. I've reinforced the interior of the pen and will invest more as you say as I'm able. Bullets are good.
