We bought 13 silkies and 10 have turned out to definitely be roos. Of the 3 that are left, 2 we aren't sure about. I put their pictures below.

I also have 4 barred rocks that are 7 weeks old now. 2 of the 4 still have yellow combs and 2 have more of a pink comb. They all have the dark coloring on their legs. So what do you think?

I agree that they are Marans. Unless of course there are yellow legs under the birds I can't see. They look like pullets so far. The 1st and 4th could possibly be cockerels, but you would typically see more development in the wattles by now if they were.

I can't help with Silkies. They're notoriously hard to sex. Hopefully someone will be along soon that is good with them.

Thank you both. I looked up the maran and now I'm more confused than ever! Haha. I got them at tractor supply so who knows what they are. They all have yellowish legs. I tried to get some pictures. None of them act like roos but when I saw the combs getting pink I started to worry.

As for the silkies I am usually in the camp of definitely too or I have no idea.

I saw your previous silkie post, some of yours are non bearded, so the Crest goes back on both males and females, not as poofy as with bearded. Are you absolutely positive they were males? Do you still have them?

I only got rid of the ones that were crowing!
Ok im going to look through your old pics as comparison to mine! You have 2 on there that look like my wonder silkie 😪 i ordered dna testing, but geesh they are taking forever. Probably a month waiting by the time results are back. I stayed successfully unattached, until this week!! Now it wants to cuddle!!

How old were they when yours started crowing?

What do you think of this one, 9.5 weeks 😔

I dont know about yours. I was still clueless until they got to be about 4 months. That's when their combs started showing more and they started crowing.

Yea, i feel the same way. Hopefully dna testing won't take much longer. I hope i can find an actual home rather than the pet store if it's a male.
