Oh and I should also add that allowing me to get a few more (actually, 5 more to be exact

) was a big mistake because since then, chicken math has exploded!!!
I bought an incubator last spring and hatched my very first eggs in the fall (yes it took me that long to use it lol). Sadly, I ended up with 8 boys out of 9 chicks.

I was expecting and prepared for 50% or even 75% but not 90%.
Still have one of the boys though and of course the girl.
So I now have a rooster too which I never thought I would....
Then I also ordered more chicks in January because someone had mentioned a super cool breed I wanted to try so I just got those last month. So now have 9 more.

My numbers are up to 19 now but they were at 23 but I’ve had some losses recently.
I now have two pens and am building a new coop atm to house them all too.
And I also have quail eggs on the way too so I’m gonna be hatching and raising those as well. So the “chicken math” has also expanded to other poultry as well. It’s “poultry math” now.
Or I guess you could say animal math in general considering I also added two budgies in March.

And I’m planning on hatching Jack’s offspring too if he ever starts mating the girls lol
Sooooo...... be aware and very careful of animal math.
