7 week old chicks--all girls?

Awww I bet!!! I was too!! Heck, I still am LOL I’ve had mine 4 1/2 years now but have added a few different batches of chicks since then too and with every new group of chicks, I’m always paranoid and so worried about them 😂🤣 I’m even worried about the adults still and I even call them out when they’re being mean LOL
That makes me feel a bit better...lol!! My husband is surprised how attached we have become with them.

Oh and I should also add that allowing me to get a few more (actually, 5 more to be exact 😂🤣🙈) was a big mistake because since then, chicken math has exploded!!! 🙈

I bought an incubator last spring and hatched my very first eggs in the fall (yes it took me that long to use it lol). Sadly, I ended up with 8 boys out of 9 chicks. :th I was expecting and prepared for 50% or even 75% but not 90%. :th

Still have one of the boys though and of course the girl.

So I now have a rooster too which I never thought I would.... :lau

Then I also ordered more chicks in January because someone had mentioned a super cool breed I wanted to try so I just got those last month. So now have 9 more. 😂🤣🙈

My numbers are up to 19 now but they were at 23 but I’ve had some losses recently.

I now have two pens and am building a new coop atm to house them all too.

And I also have quail eggs on the way too so I’m gonna be hatching and raising those as well. So the “chicken math” has also expanded to other poultry as well. It’s “poultry math” now.

Or I guess you could say animal math in general considering I also added two budgies in March. 😂🤣🙈

And I’m planning on hatching Jack’s offspring too if he ever starts mating the girls lol

Sooooo...... be aware and very careful of animal math. :lau :th

Well, I'm only allowed 6 by my county (no roosters), so my math can't explode...lol! But my house is an animal house...2 dogs, 3 guinea pigs, a whole bin of composting worms, we foster dogs, and the 5 chicks....my husband said no more animals...lol!

You’re lucky you have limits!! LOL we have 2.5 acres and no limits so you can imagine the trouble I can get in... 😂🤣 I really want goats, sheep, or horses but have managed to control myself thus far. 😂🤣🙈

But we have lots of animals too!! A cat, two parakeets, four goldfish (I also had 2 bettas but they recently passed away 😭), 19 chickens, and I also just recently got composting worms and black soldier fly larvae (also for composting) but I don’t really count those in my animal totals. ;)

Plus the quail on the way.

We used to have a dog but we had to put him down about a year and a half ago now. Hopefully I’ll get another one soon but for now, my brother has three dogs I can visit any time I want and I also dog walk/pet sit and sometimes train. 😂🤣 they also foster and have already had a bunch since their first this past fall lol and all theirs are rescues. They keep adding more dogs 😂🤣

I want to add some more parakeets but they seem happy as is so don’t want to disturb that. Might get them a nest box though. 😂🤣;)🙈

And sorry for all the long posts haha

I'd love to have so much land! I'd be in trouble and have so many animals as well...lol!
