Hi, we have 1, 7 week old naragansette turkey, he was given to us at 1 week old. He is acting very strange in his box, spinning around on his belly. Could it be that he is trying to rid himself of the remaining down? We are getting ready to move him outside (northern Vt.) he seems to be pretty content, and happy. He is even puffing out and trying to strut! We are new to raising birds thanks for any advise!

the spinning around thing seems odd, maybe he's trying to take a dust bath in the substrate.

If he's puffing up and strutting around I'm sure he's perfectly healthy.

Turkeys are a great bird to start out with if you are new to raising poultry. They are very docile and hardy, and most definently loveable.

He seems healthy he eats like a horse! I just thought the spinning was out of the oridnary. His substrate is pine shavings the feed store recommended it for turkeys.

Maybe he's kickin it old school and break dancing!

we had a bourbon red that was about 3 weeks it would get in the feed dish and try to take a dust bath like it was outside it would get in there and just spin and flap its wings.

He seems to have stopped now that all of his feathers have come in
