7 week olds - breeds & genders?

Our little mixed flock is 7 weeks old now so I'm wondering what we can find out about them. We know that Cleo is a female Welsummer & Kali is a female Black Star, but the others are mixed breeds.



Sue is our hardest one to figure out - she (he?) was sold as a Golden Comet, but has the feathered legs & extra toe of a Faverolle. I thought maybe she was from a Golden Comet mother & there was a mix-up with the dad, but I'm starting to think maybe half Faverolle / half Swedish Flower because of the speckles? And she has the rounded feathers & the lower stance of a pullet but the redder comb of a roo?



Blondie is supposed to be an Easter Egger, but I'm curious what breeds she's mixed from? And if she's really a she?



Coo is another Easter Egger, that I'm pretty sure is a girl, but I'm wondering what mix of breeds she could be?

Sue looks like a mixed breed cockeral. The rest look like mixed pullets.

Life ain't easy for a boy named Sue! Your little Sue seems to be just that, a little cockerel :'( a gorgeous one though! Were these guys from a backyard breeder or from a hatchery? If it's from a backyard breeder I'd go ahead and bet that Blondie is an Easter Egger, just that one her parents either 1. wasn't easter egger or 2. both parents weren't fully dominant for the beard gene Same thing goes for Coo, I'd honestly guess part welsummer due to coloring but with mixes it can be near impossible to really know ^^"

I'm not sure what you'd call the place we got them - it's a local farm with lots of different chicken breeds, plus ducks & quail & rheas. And other animals (horses, pigs, goats, etc).
They said Coo & Blondie were Easter Eggers, which I think is right, but I was curious if anyone could tell what mixes they are. I hadn't seen a white EE before.

Any idea what mix Sue is? He has the Faverolle traits, but any idea what else? His coloring is just so odd.
Also, will we be okay with 1 roo & 4 hens? Or will he harass them too much? We've debated getting 1-2 more, but don't want to go through the brooder stage again until one of these girls is broody enough to raise it, and I don't know anywhere good to get older hens.

My husband had the same reaction as you. Funny how that's the one that turned out to be a roo.

The white EE is called a Snowball, they are rare, especially if pure white. I only know of one hatchery that sells them. They cost $27 per chick and they don't guarantee that it will even be 100% white. So a definite congrats are in order!

Updating with 9-week-old pictures.

Coo is our shyest bird, so the hardest to photograph. I still think she's a she, but her colors are really interesting, with gray in the center of each feather & brown around the edges. I don't know what that's called, but she just keeps getting prettier.

Blondie is making me question if she's a she, because her comb is bigger than anyone but Sue's, but I'm too new at this to really know.

Sue is definitely acting more like a roo. He's started herding the girls together if they split up too much. And he's getting so pretty. I was able to catch him for some better close-ups today & man does he have an impressive pair of wings.

They are absolutely beautiful!! Those combs are really growing. You may have a white roo indeed. I agree with you on the she that is gray and brown. Looks like an EE pullet to me.
