$70 for a flock of 7?

Yup. Your mom is right. At $35 they will be dinner. At $70 they will likely be pets or yard art.

Did she really explode on you or just tell you to take the ad down? And didn't you ask her advice first?

This pricing works for everything...last Spring, when I was clearing out the spot for my chicken run, I had about 1.5 cords of wood to get rid of...nice seasoned stuff that sat under our deck for more than 2 years out of the weather! I wanted it gone, so priced it at $100. No bites, and even got flagged as spam many times. Upped the price to $130 and had it sold in 2 hours!

Things priced "too low" are generally overlooked as scams, because honestly...who would get rid of that many (or "that") for such a lower price? Answer: It is either broken or not really what they are claiming it is.

7 ducks, fully raised and ready to lay/laying...I'd list them for $100. (Cost as a duckling + feed + my time raising them, or rather "someone's time raising them" + misc expenses of the ducks (gas to go get them when you purchased, added water bill stuff, electricity...)). If anyone is seriously considering buying a pre-built flock like that, they will ask you to lower the price if they aren't willing to pay. Of course, around here, a dressed out duck ready for cooking sells for $60 each...so at $100 for 7, they may still end up as dinner!

Moochie, I know where you're coming from. Sometimes, I sell my extra hens super cheap, or even give them away when I want them gone quickly. If you ask for a good price, often, people don't even call. List them for cheap or free, EVERYBODY calls.

Gotta talk it over first with Mom though, if she paid for them......

70$ is fair, on craigslist people often sell ducks for about 20$ a piece, any breeds at all. At 35$ my first thought wouldn't be "I have to go snap that up", it would be "I wonder how sick they are." I've heard so many stories of people buying cheap or free flocks only to get them home and foolishly infect all the birds they had before with something the new birds carried.

At least ask the $70 to start, and invest out in something else you want. If you can't find any craigslist or rescue campbells locally, spend the money on an order to Metzer's or something. IF you don't get any nibbles on the ducks after a week or two, then you can slowly drop the price.

Be more sensitive to the value of a dollar. I would be livid with my kid too, but then making ends meet has never been something that's come easily in our lives.

I think this is kind of crazy, I asked how much to sell my ducks for and everyone said 5 bucks a piece...

It's not that bad actually! I found out who called! It's the owner of this ranch out in town, and he has alot of cochins, rirs, ducks, horses, rabbits, etc. that he has for sale alot. He probably wanted them for breeding. Out of all the animals he has I don't think he has rouens.

$35 because I'm not greedy and when I put up the ad I was thinking about my chickens and my dogs. "Someone" wants us to get down to 5 ducks, and I'm afraid "someone" will come back and see that the ducks aren't gone and take all of them away. I'm really attached to my crested ducks, especially since they're the only ducks that will eat from my hand and I've had them since they were 2 weeks old. 1 drake the other one was put into a pot. I don't want that drake, my crested pair has a drake and I like him very much.
"Someone" gave us a week to get down to 5. I'm in a panicky situation and I thought it would be better to have cut the loss and just go with it. I know we would be losing money that way, but "someone" can be really harsh sometimes and "someone" could take everything away from me.
I told my parents that if "someone" takes all my chickens, ducks, and dogs, I would never go back to school because all I would do there is cry everyday and not get anything done. This situation is scaring me like crazy.
I know I shouldn't be saying "if" so much but I love my animals alot and I don't know what I would do if "someone" came and took all of them away.
