7th Annual BYC New Year's Day 2016 Hatch-A-Long

I got these eggs late 6 days ago and put them in incubator. since I put them in late I consider them to be day 5 eggs. the eggs to the left had 4 clears and one keeper. the eggs to the right are all good. So after pulling my clears my count will begin. so far 7/7.

early on day 5.

Snow and all..I got a new layer today! I was hoping for a green .. :(

Not a bad sized egg for a beginner. Hope it stays this way, her mom was laid big eggs.

So pretty, loving the greens. :p

Bummer! I'm trying out a first-time broody myself. So far she's sticking to it...even let me know when I got too close (ouch! my poor finger!)

I know that feeling! Been a while, but yeah, some don't want to be bothered, and some are sweethearts and just talk to you while they sit there.

Looks like my broody isn't up to it. I'm going to throw her eggs in the incubator and see if I have any luck with them but it looks like she's tired of sitting already

Been there done that too..that's actually how I got started incubating. Someone had said, best have a back up incubator, they don't always stick to it. Well this little stinker did all the way, until they pipped. Guess that freaked her out. She flew the coop! I had to take pipped eggs in and hurry and get that incubator warmed up. Got three babies out of the 5. I was hooked!

Thank you! I am excited about the dark spotted ones, not only are they pretty but they have "blue" feathered birds in them. I believe the greens are frizzles maybe splash ones.

Your still waiting on shipped eggs today right?

Yes and they came this morning

Finally!! Despite the delay and not being marked as eggs or fragile

none were broken. Whew! No rolling air cells, just some saddles.

This group of 11 are blue/black/splash copper Marans, blue/black/splash Cochins (standards), and Mille Bantam Cochins.

They will go in the bator today to join the others!

you don't have to wait! I just hatched out a bunch of these. the grey in this pic

2 upper ones were from spotted brown eggs 2 lower ones from green eggs.
