7th Annual BYC New Year's Day 2016 Hatch-A-Long

Everyone keeps talking about silkies. I have 2 silkie eggs left in the bator that are looking good, due to hatch a week from now. They're all that's left from a dozen shipped eggs (plus one iffy cochin) :/ I'm really hoping they make it. I'm dying for a couple really fluffy silkies!

What breed is that in your avatar?

She was just a mixed breed bantam. When i got her she had just a little gray on her wing tips. As she grew she got all those wonderful colors and looked like a little eagle. She was my favorite. She would walk around my feet and talk to me, let me pick her up and would fly up on my shoulder. Sadly a hawk got her about 3 months ago. REALLY broke my heart.

I've been looking for a buff breed chicken that has the dark tail markings. I saw them on a 60s movie and am trying to find the breed.

good luck. On our last hatch, my husband took a pipped egg to a not so broody - broody hen. She abandoned the nest for an undetermined amount of time (outdoors in winter before the heat wave). In the morning when discovered, put the pipped egg back in the incubator and it hatched! Praying your eggs still hatch!
