7th Annual BYC New Year's Day 2016 Hatch-A-Long

Have 13 Serama in lock down. 3 pipped this morning before 8 am EST. Sweaty palms waiting for more. Pacing back and forth with dogs on my heels checking bator.

Thanks.
I don't understand it either. According to our vet it happens with terrible regularity. If you don't want the responsibility of caring for and finding homes for puppies and/or kittens then get your animals spayed/neutered. All my dogs (except the pup because she is too young still) and my cats are "fixed." The only animals allowed to have offspring are the birds and goats. The birds are monitored and numbers controlled and I don't yet have any female goats. So, goats kids haven't been and issue, yet. DH loves goat meat so I don't think that will ever be an issue.

Sorry about my little rant. I just seriously hate seeing any of God's creatures being thrown away like a piece of garbage!

Puppy mills are terrible!

Just checked the eggs before I go to bed...And LOOK...!

Wish he would have waited for the others!
Now I have to move these guys out of the baby brooder.....tomorrow..

I love the picture of the toy and chicks!

Good morning everyone!! It is so much more fun hatching chickens with others! I love seeing and hearing about all the other pips, chicks and ducks!! I never realized how cute ducks were!!

Congratulations on all the successful hatches so far! My pip from last night hatched sometime around 5. The one that I mistakenly neglected to put in lockdown until I heard it chirping madly when I candled it last night, just pipped. But the rest are waiting for New Years.

Keep the pictures coming!!

Happy Hatching!!

Sometimes the broken egg shells get pushed over the ends of the other eggs. Look closely for that as it can make it difficult for the covered egg to pip and hatch.
Are you sure someone in the family didn't sneak another one in as a surprise or a joke when you weren't looking? Many years ago, my mother and her husband had a pool that desperately needed cleaning. I went to the store and bought about 50 feeder goldfish and threw them in. My stepdad didn't notice until days later (long after I left) and then tried for days to figure out how they got in there before I fessed up at my next visit!
