An update here...

I currently have 10 chicks. Just moved the 5 most recent chicks into the temporary brooder (now has shelving gripping and a little food too).

I rechecked my long-pipped chick that I am pretty sure didn't make it, and I still feel that way.

I have 2 more pipped eggs. One of them has good beak movement at the pip and I am comfortable with. A second one has a decent sized pip whole, but I do not see the beak. The pip is midway down the egg, towards the narrow side. I can see the chick's body inside through the whole and its breathing. I am watching closely. I don't really want to intervene, but I may need to. This one just pipped today though, so it hasn't been that long.

I quickly checked the other eggs. I heard a few chirping! I have a few that I think are early quitters. I put the more suspect eggs on the far side of the incubator and kept the more favorable looking ones separate.

I am trying to get a couple pictures, but there is a HUGE delay (several hours) from sending myself a picture to receiving it. I have a strawberry blonde naked neck cross that reminds me of Beaker from the muppets! Chicks are so much easier to name than adults!

Alright!
We have this ice cream joint here that has been around since the 50's and STILL makes ALL their own icecream HOMEMADE THE OLD FASHIONED WAY!
The best!

I had a REAL Banana Split.
It was HUGE
By real I mean REAL icecream with Strawberry Chocolate and Vanilla icecream
NOT Vanilla icecream with flavored syrups

Legit, the real deal!
(sorry I didn't take a pic)

Ok so i think my hatch is finished. Have 30 healthy chickies out of 36 that went into lockdown. 2 shrink wrapped because my bator is apparently just too small to hatch 40 eggs and not have the new chicks knocking the other eggs all over the place. 1 pipped in the bottom of the egg where i couldn't see it and expired and 3 just never pipped and have no movement when candled. I will leave these in until morning before i make the decision to get rid of them, just on the off chance that i just didn't see movement.

I now have a second pip. This one skipped the whole internal pip thing and went straight through the shell. I made the hole just a tiny bit bigger to make sure the baby could breathe good. There were a couple spots of blood but nothing major. The first chick so hasn't made anymore progress but it's only been a couple hours and she's still peeping in there when I talk to her.
