7th Annual BYC New Year's Day 2016 Hatch-A-Long

This is just..the cover. You can buy a pillow for it in the artsy section at Walmart for just over $3.00. Or, if you have a throw pillow of your own that it will fit over would work too. It has a real small zipper to put the pillow through. :)

Its beautiful... I'd love find a set of covers like that - where did you come across it?

I lost 5 chicks :-( The others all look very healthy. -- But I am nervous. They are in a brooder outside and tonight will get chilly! Brooder temps holding well at 32 degrees - nervous about how it will do at 20
As long as the temps stay warm enough in the brooder they will be fine!

I have mine in the brooder in my unheated shed. They've got a heat source just for them and they are staying nice and cozy. It's a little warm during the day, but they have space enough to get comfortable away from the heat and it's staying about 90 at night even though the ambient outside temp is in the teens. I was surprised I could keep the temp so well regulated given the cold, but it's working out well. They have food and water and are protected from potential drafts. I'm not really worried, though I do check on them at least 2 times a day,

It's gonna be 2 degrees here tonight

I hope the pigeons keep their baby warm enough!

Thanks-

I appreciate your confidence! They are protected from drafts. We do have it set to turn off heat lamps if the temperature gets too high, but I'm not worried about that! I'll have more piece of mind when I see them awake in the morning! I miss having chicks in the house, but I DO NOT miss the mess!

E-bay! They probably have more. :D

Just looked, I didn't see this exact one. :/ And, I made sure that it had the zipper, not all of them do. I have a cute . . different sized one with a mama hen and babies on it that says, A Mother's Work is never done. :)

Oh no, we just went through this. Single digits for nights in a row. We were only in the teens through the day. Now today...it was 39 degrees! And, tonight will only go down into the 20's. What a relief. I have some frost bitten combs out there. :/ I didn't put any Vaseline on them.
