Yes, some of those darker blue eggs are hard to see into, just like the OE's and Marans. I usually can see at the bottom though, once they fill up with a chick, you can find one little spot of clear, watch it, and see if you see movement. If it is still questionable..don't toss it! I thought for sure that one of my OE eggs was a no go. I could see this dark dark area along a part of the bottom, thought it might be a blood spot. I just couldn't toss it though, because I couldn't be sure. Well, that egg was the second one to hatch! Nice big pretty blue girl. :)
OE? Old English? Or am I off in left field there...lol. My Old English are just off white (and SO much easier to candle) Love them!

Oh no, I definitely never toss them unless I am beyond positive it's up to no good. The blues (and the browns from the first predated hens) stay in until they hatch. Or until they don't hatch and there no hope. (I'm a meddler apparently, it usually doesn't get that far)

And that's awesome that your egg turned out to be a pretty blue girl!! That's awesome!

Now that's incredible fascinating! I love that kind of information. I dated most of my eggs so I'm going the watch for that specifically. SO cool!

I candled earlier tonight (WHAT?? Not me. No...never!) and the eggs seem closer in development than last night. But I did take pics of 3 eggs; all Old English...I think one's a pullet egg and the other two are from the same hen. All three have been side by side in the incubator, yet to me the middle embryo is smaller and I'd say physically "behind" the other two in development. I didn't check the lay dates...but I'll check next time I turn them.

First egg more developed than egg 2
than
Second egg not as developed as 1 and 3

Third egg more developed egg 2

Or am I just imagining things?

No its like it less developed for sure. I would leave it in and let keep going. It could just be in a cooler spot in the bator.
