7th Annual BYC New Year's Day 2016 Hatch-A-Long

Good morning all! Who's going to be able to keep their fingers out of the bator today? Not me! Once hubby leaves for work, I'll be a candling queen lol

Lol hope you see lots developing!!
I've got to wait until Friday

I candled right before supper tonight. :thumbsup    Not going to make that mistake again.

I'm still trying to make it to Friday to candle, but with all the talk of candling it's getting harder. Im glad I have some white eggs to candle this time. The brown eggs are so hard to tell. I will leave brown eggs I can't tell till day 18 if they are not cracked. Have had some I thought were bad at 7 days hatch. Maybe I need better glasses!!!

Now that's incredible fascinating! I love that kind of information. I dated most of my eggs so I'm going the watch for that specifically. SO cool!

I candled earlier tonight (WHAT?? Not me. No...never!) and the eggs seem closer in development than last night. But I did take pics of 3 eggs; all Old English...I think one's a pullet egg and the other two are from the same hen. All three have been side by side in the incubator, yet to me the middle embryo is smaller and I'd say physically "behind" the other two in development. I didn't check the lay dates...but I'll check next time I turn them.

First egg more developed than egg 2
than
Second egg not as developed as 1 and 3

Third egg more developed egg 2

Or am I just imagining things?

Great pictures!
I candled the eggs on 3 sides of the egg turner. I could only see veins in a few of them. Nothing discarded.

That is great news!

It is best to wait. I wanted to check them mostly because they are Store eggs. I would check shipped early too because I do not like seeping eggs.

My pigeons are doing pretty well sitting on their egg for first time parents, but it's mostly the male who is sitting, the female needs to learn to stay on the nest
