7th Annual BYC New Year's Day 2016 Hatch-A-Long

Aww, some early chicks photos. Pretty cute. And, yes, they do move a lot while trying to get that photo shoot done.

I just candled the HAL eggs that are in the Mind Reader Bator.
One quit, so down to 5. They still look good.

Out of the shipped eggs I got, I have 4 developing. Two are really bad saddle cells though, and one seems to be growing very slowly. They are in the R-com and are due a week later.

The two in the middle row on the far right are the saddle cells that are alive. I traced those cells when I put them in and they basically look the same still.

Hoping the water recedes tonight without any further damage.

Ponds are bursting uphill from me.
My Isbar coop just washed away.
Im so bummed.
I have 2 female isabelle leghorns, and a male and a female cream legbar in my house. They are the only ones I could get too

I am just catching up. I am so sorry! I am heartbroken for you. :hit :hit :hit Only my mixed imports group is laying right now, but let me know if you would like some of those eggs. Praying for you and your community. :hugs

Guess I'm in the running for worst hatch. :(. Looks like 7 duck eggs have quit over a 24 hour period. I could just cry! 2 left and one chicken egg that doesn't want to lose any moisture so fingers crossed. One duck egg looks weird. It was a quitter but while I was candling there looks like there is some fluid moving around when I turn the egg. It's towards the bottom of the egg. Any ideas on what this could be?

I am so sorry. I understand though. All ten of my first duck eggs were clear. I had some chicken eggs too. They look like quitters, but I still have hope. When my duck eggs were finally fertile, I added five more. They aren't looking too good either. Fingers crossed for both of us!

I hope you get a couple to hatch!

Watch that egg with the liquid. If it develops an odor get it out!

Thanks I do too! I think I'll give it a couple of hours to double check to make sure there is no movement and it's an actual quitter and I'll toss it. I don't want to compromise the 3 I have going strong. I dislike how this is a guessing game. How they can make it all the way to day 23 and then just stop. I'm just to impatient.
