Aww, I love me a splash anything! Love them.My hatch is over. Had 6 bantam white faced black spanish and 2 bantam blue polish out of 34 eggs set. Lost 2 of the white faced black spanish due to incomplete closing of the navel. One of the blue polish may or may not make it. It almost didn't manage to hatch itself. I promised myself this year I wasn't going to help any hatch, but I would do what I could to keep them alive if they managed to hatch themselves. I did well, which means I lost one that shrink wrapped that I could have helped, but chose not to. I just didn't want to deal with the loss of the ones I helped like happened last year. I think most of the issue was that I had a temp spike just after my candling at day 14 and I didn't catch it until the next morning.
So here they are. So cute and fluffy. And since this hatch was so bad, my hubby says I can hatch another round!

They'd fit right in color wise!
But, I have no luck with ducks. Cattle, sheep, dogs, cats, pigs, rabbits, chickens...I can almost bring them back from the dead.
Ducks...I tried to save two baby ducks last summer when their mom was predated...they died.
I felt so bad.

I didn't know about this site yet.
great hatch! i love the heat plates! i have one to... looks like the little one will make it. What do you do with all these chicks? They are not big brooders and the brooder plate is rated for 20 chicks.
I set 45 eggs and found some more with cracks and pulled them. There were some clears and blood rings so 37 went into lockdown.
32 of them hatched!
These are out and about eating and stuff.
These are hiding under the brooder getting warm.
This is the second brooder. The chick at the bottom left hatched last and is weak. I think it will make it. He has a bit of a sore naval that I sprayed with Vetericyn and gave it a vitamin drop this morning. Another tonight and I will see tomorrow how things are going.
As a refresher, these are from Whole Foods ant Trader Joe's fertile eggs! 32 our of 4 dozen set.
My hatch is done.![]()
33 set, 7 made it to lock down, 5 quit or DIS, one normal hatch, one heavily assisted mal position hatch.
Glad I got the two little boogers, now to figure out my fertility issues, and why my temp spiked at lock down. I don't think I will be using this particular bator for incu any more, may just become a dryer/brooder back up.![]()
