7th Annual BYC New Year's Day 2016 Hatch-A-Long

Quote: My husband's great great aunt had a collection of several hundred sets from around the world, from the mid 1800's to... Well, now. The great aunt (whom raised DH and built this house) gave a lot away seven years ago. Her husband dies, and she dealt with it by throwing away his American flag from his funeral (not kidding! I was here, and saved it) and giving away so many things!
I do still have maybe sixty original shakers. Some are just so cool!

Was that his armed service flag. I have one from a good friends husband service flag ww 2 48 stars. Collections are nice but sometimes storing them are a problem

That's funny a quail crowing. Never thought about it gave me a chuckle. But the hen laying that's great. My dog woke me up at 2:00am when the BCM chick pipped.

Did the snow stick?
I visited my brother in law in Arizona once. They happened to have the hottest day on record that weekend. It hurt to breathe outside. Haven't been back

It did amazingly
@chicken hawk 33 you know, pm-ing a person works great for asking someone a question, that way you don't drive everyone else nuts ;)

Yes, it was. No problem storing it. She was just mourning in her way. She was mostly overwhelmed with getting rid of anything having to do with him. She wanted to just move on like he had never existed.
She also didn't know that I would go to any lengths to keep her home as she wanted it. She is 97 now, and still takes care of herself for the most part. She moved to an assisted living facility (where she happened to meet up with a few relatives she hadn't seen in many decades!) a few years ago. When she was last here, she was almost in tears because I hadn't wiped out her life. I love the antiques! I use them, and try to take care of them. Most things are right where she left them.

Lol...IF you're meaning me, I've still been hatching since New Years. I don't think I said anything about it. I ended up with a funny chick, OEGB with green legs. Crossed with an Easter Egger?? Not sure what went on there...

The dynamics of that one are mind boggling.

I also put the one little guy down this morning. Wouldn't eat or drink, hatched on the 4th...SO tough. I eye droppered him for the last couple of days, but it was apparent he wasn't coming around. I also lost one New Years Eve chick to a gut obstruction and one that I just found dead. Maybe too much heat? I've been backing things off...but they're already trying to fly out of the box.

I'm planning to buy eggs and wanting mine to be almost done when I set hers.

But I hatch on Sunday so setting on Sunday just makes more sense to keep track. (I wasn't long winded at all there...was I??)

If you're meaning you...yes you very much deserve a break!

(Don't listen to me when I'm giving you a rough time...lol!)
