I am suspicious of medicated feed. It has the same ingredient as corid in it for coccidiosos. It is a thiamine blocker so to compensate, they are supposed to add extra vitamins to the feed.I haven't had any more pasty butt since I went back to non medicated feed.

It seems that it does not work sometimes.

Medicated feed is to help the chicks build up resistance to coccidiosis. It does not protect against other diseases. I give them either flock raiser or chick feed from hatch. Pullets go on layer after the first egg is laid.Great I literally just bought a bag of medicated today. Since my chicks seems stunted
It sounds like you are on the right track!I don't if that was it or not but they are fine now.
Good advice, Thank YouMedicated feed is to help the chicks build up resistance to coccidiosis. It does not protect against other diseases. I give them either flock raiser or chick feed from hatch. Pullets go on layer after the first egg is laid.
Try vitamins and electrolytes if they seem off to you. Vitamins are a good thing to give them until the medicated feed is gone just to be safe.
It sounds like you are on the right track!
I watch for symptoms of coccidiosis and treat it if The chicks seem sick. I have not treated for it in two seasons though.
Actually set this lil brooder up for emergencies, power outages. Bought the storage box on clearance 2.5x6' (for artificial Christmas tree). Has two wheels on the bottom, so I can lift the front & move it closer to the generator. Actually the four Bresse in the picture hatched 7 days earlier. They were extremely unhappy by themselves they could hear these chicks peeping and I'd come home and find them on top of their brooder. So they are now happily together.
