8+ Barnevelder eggs from Johan/vB roosters and vB (C. Ledford) hens. These eggs will be shipped on April 4th or 5th. More pictures of my flock can be seen at my BYC page here:

My bator is full and I had a customer change their ship date, so I'm offering these eggs up for auction for the April 4th or 5th shipping date only.

There is a small possibility of project eggs being included by mistake as I have four project hens in the flock. But, I usually can tell by egg color which eggs are which and this would be unlikely. I collect several times a day and the eggs will be no older than four days on the day they ship. I've have good rates here at home and customers have had good hatch rates this year from shipped eggs. But, I do not guarantee hatch rates with shipped eggs.
Payment will be the old fasioned way by check or bank check because I'm not set up with pay-pal. The winner is to mail me a check and I will mail them the eggs

Thanks,
Trisha

Here is a picture of some of the eggs my flock is laying. I will not ship the lightest eggs that are from a show quality KC line hen unless requested. The middle darkest egg is from my best "cornevelder" project hen. I will include eggs from her as extras only if requested.

Trisha, how long have you been working with the Barnevelder breed? I have 12 coming from Johan the week of April 11 or 18. I love what you are doing for the breed. Thanks
Jen

Hi Jen,
I started with this breed in April 2009. I decided to focus on one breed and only have the Barnevelders and my two project lines. I was lucky to find good stock to get started from C. Ledford. A fellow Barnevelder breeder was also very kind to me after I lost my main roo to a coyote last year. He sent me two really nice cockerels in Oct. to work with that have some traits I wanted to add to my flock.

Well, I will definitely be watching for your egg auctions in the future. Christina L., as I have read, has done alot for the Barnevelder line. Right now I have 7 chickens, but will be giving them to my dad when the Barnevelders are ready for the coop. I want one breed also. Except I bought some Polish eggs that are hatching as we speak. (mostly bought them for fun) Who knows what I will do with them. Keep some or sell them.
Are one of your projects a BLRW/ Barnevelder mix? I thought I had seen pictures of them somewhere on here. It is really funny... when I was researching what breed I wanted, the first breed I was interested in was the BLRW. I liked the blue, but didn't like the fact about the B/B/S. I guess it's sort of like a surprise with what you would get though. That could be fun. I found the Barnevelders, and the rest they say is history.

My project blues were started by crossing single combed, splash BLR dottes with my pure Barnie roo. The F1's were easy as all the chicks were blue. But the F2's I keep getting more blue cockerels and hardly any blue pullets. It looks like I'm going to have to hatch out a 100 chicks this year just to get a handful of prospects to use for the project. Here's a picture of my best looking F2 blue cockerel that I might use on pure hens this fall. He looks like he's double laced and doesn't have a lot of excess red/gold like a few of the other cockerels.

I hatched out some of Trisha's eggs and had fantastic fertility.

Since she forgot to include the gorgeous chick photo, I will. (there are 2 mottled java's in the pic as well)

Nice pics Trisha and Happy!
I didn't know that there were single combed dottes. The dottes rose comb was another reason why shyed away from them. I just don't like it as well as the single comb. I love seeing all the blue varieties, but I just didn't want to take that on right now.

Thanks Kelly for the nice feedback and picture

Jen, I was lucky to have found a local lady selling two single-combed BLR dotte pullets that had come in a chick order from a top BLR dotte breeder. Single-combs sometimes happen if breeders keep a few single combed birds in their flock because of the belief that rose combed breeds can have fertility issues. This is a "hot" and sensitive topic with breeders, but in my case I was glad to get the single combed pullets. They had nice lacing and size and really helped me to get a good start on my blue project.
