they keep scratching all of their pine shavings away to peck at the tub they are in. What are they doing??

I know they are suppose to scratch, but why do they keep pecking at nothing???

They're learning. Just like human kids, they love to make noise.

So is it also 'learning' when they sweep their beaks through the shavings?

I have noticed a few of them doing that, kinda looks like their doing a little dance.

the sweeping is them cleaning off their beaks. Its a normal behavior

Just wait until they learn how to dust bath in the shavings now that is funny to watch.

Mine were doing this yesterday! Then they'd fight over who could sit in the small hole they dug out!

My favorite thing is how they have become really good friends in such a short time. They are two separate breeds, so the first day or two they were pecking at each other. Now they talk and plan together and get REALLY upset if we take one out and leave the other behind!!

They are starting a chick rock band

.. Mine did the same thing in their tub brooder!!
