No trauma, no bloodyndischarge, no bloody stools, have large coop and run, cleaned weekly, just put sand down in run, have food and water off ground, free range daily for an hour or so.... I hatched and raised this one. Bright eyed and active yesterday. I did not see them last night. Went to collect eggs and let them out to free range this morning for a bit and found her gone. She was still warm so it just happened. Everyone else seems healthy. Cleaned out the coop again. I have a TSC producers pride run and coop with 4 chickens in it so they have plenty of space and everything is clean. I have a 5 gal waterer with the cups they push that I refill weekly. There was some sand grit in the bottom of it. Cleaned it out and put fresh in. Food and water are off the ground and not contaminated. Also cleaned coop again, any comments on what it is and how I can protect my other three girls?

Took her to the state animal testing. Want to know what happened and how we can protect and prevent if possible. Am doing a bleach clean of everything tomorrow.
I'm sorry for your loss.
I do look forward to hearing what the lab results say.
I do hope you post the results.

I feed (currently) healthy Harvest non gmo organic layer feed. They have grit and oyster shell and free range in the yard for a few hours on most days. They have oyster shell and grit as desired.

Yes I will post the results when I get them.

Great, thank you.
Do you feed any treats?

Would you mind posting a photo of the guaranteed analysis tag on your current feed bag?

Sorry for your loss. We see a lot of posts here about pullets that have come into lay and become adults who may just die from no apparent cause. Some just have heart failure or some other organ weakness that may not be apparent. Getting a necropsy is a good idea though, just for peace of mind.
