8 month old hen not laying

Got these 2 Brahma chickens when they were chicks on March and are 8 months now and still aren’t laying. Is there a reason why they still aren’t or do some hens lay later?They dont sing so I doubt they are roosters and also don’t do the sound a hen does when it wants to lay.

If you send pics we can tell you gender. And yes some breeds don't lay as fast as others. The bigger the longer it takes usually. Brahma's are generally large so it may take a while.

And also it takes them 6-8 months to begin laying so any day now. Sometimes they can be slow. I've had a few like that.

Where are you located? I see from your avatar you live where it snows, so it may be that your hens will delay laying until the days start getting longer in the spring. My young ones who reach "laying age" in the late fall/winter usually do this, so I think it's pretty normal. You could try putting a light in your coop to give them 12 hours of "daytime" and see if that gets them to start laying.

Hello it’s actually really rare for it to snow here I live in Texas that picture was from February where it snowed for the first time in a really long time.It’s not cold here in Texas yet it’s about 74° right now.But yes I have that as my avatar because I thought it looked pretty with the snow

Brahmas are late-maturing birds and the days are getting shorter so this is fairly normal for that breed.

Your birds are pullets, and it is not unusual for Brahmas to mature later than high production breeds.

Given the shortening day light period, it is not inconceivable that they might not lay until spring.
