8 month old laying Rhode island reds mixed with Rhode whites

I'm new to raising chickens. I have Rhode island reds mixed with Rhd whites. I picked this breed for their cold tolerances but how cold is cold? And their feet do they need extra protection? It will snow here so do I let them out of the co-op? Thanks

Cold is below zero. They really are okay in the winter, and will often choose to go out in the snow. Sometimes they love it at first, then hate it, then go out because they’re tired of being cooped up. Other times, they are afraid of it in the beginning.
To keep their feet warm, just make sure the roost is wide enough for them to settle on their feet. IE, a 2x4 the wide way.

If your coop is dry and well ventilated but draft free they should be fine. Just assure that they have adequate feed and water. Chickens don't like walking in deep snow. It may be necessary to shovel a path or throw down some straw in their pen.

Chickens are fine at thirty below, so don’t fret. Adding heat is dangerous because a fire can start, or power can be lost. If power is lost, the birds will have a rough time acclimating.

Hi there! Welcome! You have been given good advice. The cold itself isn’t too problematic as long as they have shelter from the wind and the wet. Fresh food and water and you’re good to go!
