8 month RIR Still Not Laying!!!

Fred's Hens :

No she doesn't need another RIR and no, she isn't "waiting" for the others.

Let's diagnose a bit.

Does she have rich, bloody red comb and wattles? That's the first thing I'd look for. These are signs of sexual maturity.

She does but they aren't as large as my GC or BR, nor is it floppy like theirs. I have pictures but not sure how to post them. Thank you for helping to diagnose

I have one BR and one RIR, they are both nine months old. They both started laying at about the same time, the RIR at 22 weeks and the BR at 24 weeks. They both showed all the tell-tale signs of pre-laying such as squatting, poking around for potential nesting spots, red wattles and combs and they got very vocal practicing their egg songs.

The RIR is the consistent layer. She has been laying almost everyday at about the same time. She rarely takes a day off. The BR on the other hand suddenly stopped laying about two weeks ago. She is a healthy girl, but for some reason decided to go on vacation. I love my chickies, but it is sometimes frustrating trying to figure out why they do the things they do.

Try to weed out any potential health problems that she may have. Also, as someone else mentioned, environmental factors affect egg laying as well. If that doesn't work, then try to be patient with her. Perhaps, she is just a late bloomer.

The main thing is that she is healthy and happy.

I got 3 RIR's on March 22 that the individual (I dont really know if they were the breeder or not) said were 3-4 weeks old. 2 of them started laying about 6 weeks ago and 1 still has not and doesnt show any sign either. She has an undeveloped pale looking comb and no wattles. She does seem healthy. The other 2 have larger dark red combs and wattles. She is awfully sweet tho and we we call her lil bit so I think she is here to stay.

I seem to be having the SAME EXACT problem. My R.I Red isn't laying yet. My Plymouth has at about 29 weeks but my R.I.R still isn't laying(at 32 weeks) she definitely has NO health problems she has excellent vocal chords, she pokes around in the dirt all the time for nest spots, she get PLENTY of sunlight everyday(about 10-12 hours a day) and has " rich, bloody red comb and wattles". I just don't understand why she isn't laying yet,my family comes from a nice cuban background who lived on farms and know a thing or two about livestock but ot even this is making send to them. Nobody is coming up for a reason for her to not lay. Anyone got any ideas?
