Yes, they can still get coccidiosis while on medicated feed. The feed only helps to prevent illness, it really doesn't totally protect against it. When the amount of coccidia are high in the dirt, chickens can pick it up whether or not they are on medicated feed.

Can they get coccidiosis while on medicated feed?

I am glad that they can eat some DE, the feed store people are the ones who told me that it was toxic, even food grade stuff.

Be careful when accepting advice from feed store people. They mean well but seldom actually know what they are talking about. You should always use food grade DE..so if they munch on it, it will do them no harm.

We have IFA feed stores here in Utah and they recommended food grade DE. My wife is giving corid to the hens now so I am crossing my fingers.

Just an update that the hens are on day 4 of corid and are oing much better. They seem to be back to normal. Thanks again for all of the help and advice. I just finished taking out the old shavings and putting a new layer of DE and fresh shavings on their coop. I also raked out and out a little DE in their run. Should be good to go! Thanks for all the help and I really love this site!
