Chirping
I hatched several babies with a broody hen back in May, and I have had a hell of a time sexing them. I’m starting to think Poppy, the black chicken in the first picture, middle chicken in the second, is a cockerel based on how pointy the feathers are near her saddle. They aren’t as thin and long as my adult black australorp Roo’s saddle feathers, but...I think between the comb and the pointy feathers, my little Faverolles australorp mix is not the girl I hoped for! Any advice is welcome, especially about the pointiness of the feathers, as a few of Poppy’s siblings also have slightly pointy saddle feathers.
Looking at Poppy’s neighbors in the picture with two other black babies from her hatch...I think o know my answer but am in denial
