I sometimes need to intduce new pullets into a flock. heres how I was tought and the way I do it with all most 100% sucess:
First the new birds MUST be full ADULTS
2 hours after dark I move all the new birds to a freshly cleaned coop. After all the new birds are in the new coop, I move all the older birds to the new coop. Then at the crack of dawn I am there to watch what happens. If there is a bad problen then I put every one back where they were. Only had 2 or 3 problems over many years. This does not work with new roosters. Never put a new rooster in with an old rooster. Just take the old rooster out, never to go back. Unless the hens don't accept the new rooster. Then you eat the new rooster and put the old one back in. no need to do the coop changing fo this.
This is how my Father tought me back in 1940.
