8 Week Old Chicken Panting

My 8 week old chicken won't let me come near her. If I pick her up, she starts panting like crazy, even when I set her down, like she's out of breath. She's never acted like this before. Help!

She could be under a lot of stress or over heating. She may be being bullied. Bullied birds get very stressed. Make sure she has access to food and water even if you have to put out more feeding and water stations. She may not be eating or drinking enough and scared of the other birds and you. If the panting continues, you might post this question in the emergency section of BYC for some possible diagnosis....

Hello and Welcome To BYC! Sorry about your chick, TwoCrows gave you some good advice about things to check. Is the chick outside or inside, do you have other chicks with her? How long has she been doing that, has anything happened to scare her, scared chickens sometimes take quite a while to calm back down.

She is in a coop leading out to an enclosed run, with three other chicks. She's been acting like this for two days.
Thank you TwoCrows I'll watch them and see if they are. I've never thought of that before, and it's a good thing to look for.
