Hello! I have an 8 week old black sex link chick that we moved from the brooder to the coop last Sunday along with 5 others. All were just flying to the top of the brooder that morning. We moved to the coop (run closed off for acclimation) and went back to the house. Went to check on them about 2 hours later and she was laying down with a droopy wing and stumbled when trying to walk. When food/water was put in front of her she ate and drank. we separated her immediately and put back into the brooder. It was about 98° out that day so we also gave her electrolytes. The brooding box is in a somewhat climate controlled (80°-90°) shop. Completely changed the brooder bedding to best monitor poop... completely normal. We looked her over for any obvious injuries and couldn’t find any. Though the possibility was there if the got too rambunctious in the new coop? No evidence of mites or parasites. She was walking much better the next morning but still seemed a little unsteady. This improved daily over the next 3 days with her getting stronger. She is still separated but no longer unsteady or acting abnormal.

Called the vet who just told us to keep her separated for a week then call back...

In googling we were concerned about Marek’s but that appeared to be progressive whereas my chick improved. I’m just nervous about reintegration to the others (whom all are acting fine). Thoughts?

Welcome To BYC

So she's not having any trouble now?
Personally, I would put her back with the others. It's understandable about your concerns that she may have Marek's, but even if she did, the others have already been exposed.

If she's physically able to re-join, then see how it goes, the longer the separation, it's possible the harder re-integration may be.

Here's some very good info on Marek's. https://www.backyardchickens.com/articles/the-great-big-giant-mareks-disease-faq.66077/
