8 week old Silkie Hen or Roo

Hi!! I’m a new silkie owner! A local breeder had some for sale and said this one could possibly be a pullet. And I know they’re hard to sex which is why we haven’t had this breed until now. Could anyone give me any educated guesses? They hatched 3/1 so he/she is 8 weeks.

Hello there! Silkies are so fun, and as you watch this one grow up I’m sure you’ll wish you’d gotten one earlier!

I’d say it looks like a pullet. No wattles and no “streamer-like” feathers coming from the crest usually indicates a female. There also shouldn’t be any odd-looking, non-silky feathers in the poofy tail if it’s a pullet, although I can’t really tell in those pictures.

All my hens hair poof looked like that at this age especially the non bearded ones like this one you can tell by streamers but I don't think they ever grow in this early

So for me he grew the same as the other 2 hens until at about 19 weeks he suddenly became way bigger and his tail and neck feathers became bigger
