Hatchery birds, 8 weeks old, purchased as pullets (along with a buff Orpington who was very clearly a rooster from the start.)

This one sprouted long wing feathers and a tail first. I thought female. Now developing red in the comb and especially in the wattles. Still thinking female...but I'm completely new to this.

This one stayed fluffy forever and didn't develop a tail or anything more than stumpy wings for ages. Also developed white feathering on the 'shoulders' where as the other didn't. I'm stumped. My friends are guessing pullet. I want to say roo since this one always staged stand-offs with my roo. Pullet maybe?

I'm thinking they are both pullets! And are you sure your BO is a cockerel? They develop faster combs and wattles even the girls!

Pretty certain! He acts like a rooster, watches out for his girls, had a huge comb at just 3 weeks! But please let me know if I'm mistaken!

Oh ya , no mistaking him for anything other than a cockerel!
