I have six 8 week olds. 3 BR and 3RIR.
They have been in the coop for about a week and a half.
Right now when I go out to lock them up at night, they are all together hunkering down in one of the nest boxes.
I know it is not uncommon for young birds to not use the roost right away, but is it a bad idea to allow them to sleep together in a nest box?
I don't want them developing bad habits - but really, how do i stop them? Or should I let them be for now? Any input appreciated.
Thanks!

Mine did the exact same thing for 2 weeks: pig-pile all six girls in a nesting box. And they seemed to really like it. One night at lock-up, I lifted two of the girls up on the roost. They slept there all night. The next night I went in and they both had found their way up there on their own and were sleeping on the roost! So I lifted 2 more girlies up...and the next night they were ALL up there except the silkie--she has to be helped up there each night until we rig up a ladder for her.

Hubby calls her our "special needs" chicken.
