8 week pullet eye looking funky

Not sure what's up with this little girl's eye. I've had dry pox run through the flock pretty recently; some birds are still a little scabby but overall flock health looked fine. I noticed about a week or so ago that the skin around her left eye looked different than her right. At the time I chalked it up to mottled skin from mixed breeds.

Today, however, I noticed it's more puffy and bubbly. Her overall attitude is still energetic and spunky; she screamed the entire time I tried to get photos.

Is this likely the dry pox just affecting her left eye? Included right eye, that has developed a welt, for comparison.

I would treat her for mycoplasma (MG,) which can cause swelling and a foamy eye. First, rinse the eye with saline or eye wash, and apply a small dab of either Terramycin or plain Neosporin ointment twice a day into the eye. I have some saline spray that I'll use, gently, and Neosporin. Hopefully that clears it up.

Went to check on her last night and the eye is sealed shut. Do I soak it with saline cotton ball, or leave it be?

I'll update if it's still closed once I get out there.

Yes, you can apply a warm wet compress to the eye. It should be able to open in a few minutes. The ointment may help prevent it from crusting shut.

Her eye was actually open and looking a little better on it's own this morning (didn't have my phone for a photo), but I went ahead and did a warm compress to clean off residual crud on the outside, flushed with a saline spray (far enough to not blast her eyeball), and applied some triple antibiotic (off brand 'cause that's all I got on hand at the moment).

Her attitude is still very much "don't touch me; I only like you because you bring food" with much protest to being handled.
