8 wk old pullet, droopy tail and puffed neck feathers....

When I opened the cage door this morning I noticed one of the 8 week old pullets was puffed up around her neck, and her tail is droopy. I put them out in the run and she went into a dog cage I have out there and just stood in there. So she is obviosuly not feeling good. I separated her, fixed her some scrambled egg which she ate, and put Poly Si Vol in her water, which she drank. She is now in the dog crate in my laundry room so I can keep my eye on her.

I felt around her neck, and it's not hurting her, but almost like she's pulling her head back and down, shrugging into her body (make sense?). I don't feel anything like an impacted crop, just her neck going down. What else should I look for?

I personally would give her a little Corid or Sulmet in her water. Coccidia has similar symptoms and you don't always see blood in poo until the late stages.

Okay, is there a dosage chart somewhere for how much to put in?

Corid I use a teaspoon to a gallon of water, Sulmet I think is about the same, but check the label. Corid can also be given a few drops in the mouth...... it is in the cattle section at TSC.

Thank you! I just went out and cleaned all the waterers and added Corid to everyones water. I'll keep my eye on the pullet to see if she perks up.....
