Thanks for sharing - not only the whole project is awesome, it's also inspiring! I was driving this morning passing by a worker who was pushing an empty pallet with a hand truck - I almost stopped to ask if I could have it. Now I wish I did ask!!!

Glad you like it and hope you have great success in finding pallets! I usually have to search for a couple months before I get enough for a project.I got most of mine from a food bank but I also got a couple from an electrical company!

The Walmart and Rural King in my area are really reliable sources. A word to the wise though—ask first. Some pallets they do return/re-use and some they do not.

I uploaded some more pics of the north side of the run.Its nestled under trees and up against the woods.Having a solid wall protects chickens as long as it has a good apron.

The run has 32 feet of repurposed concrete blocks around the bottom -inside and out to discourage diggers .The only side where I didn't do this is the side by the main entrance to the run. Here it was built on top of a row of blocks with planters around it.

Here is a photo of the step up at the main entrance where it connects to the coop and existing run (The main entrance door in on the far left in the 2nd picture) The 3rd picture is a clean out door in the back left hand corner 4th is the 48 sq ft enclosed run attached to the 120 sq ft pallet run.

Repurposed block used on 3 sides of the run inside and out.A new butterfly bush planted inside will provide the chickens shade(if they don't kill it!)The chicken wire is around it as it was only recently transplanted .

I thought I had 6 pullets but this one recently started sporting some fancy tail feathers so now I'm down to 5 ! 18 wks old

Tail feathers are meaningless. At 18 weeks a cockerel should be sporting male saddle feathers and I don't see them.

I hope you're right! I can't say I've seen a Dominique pullet with tail feathers like it !
