8 x 16 Pallet chicken run.

Here's how to close off the end of a pallet using short pieces of 2 x 4's(scraps) It helps to have something solid when you're connecting pallets together. It also prevents predators from getting in thru the ends if you only have wire on one side of the pallet.

Here's photo's of how I make an apron around the run using chicken wire, hardware cloth and cinder blocks. I'm adding chicken wire over top of the hardware cloth, securing it all with steel tent stakes then covering it with dirt and cinder blocks.

Easier going out than down thru rock and roots but it will have an electric fence around it and a camera when done. The netting on top is a weak spot too! I worked a couple hours on it again today covering up all the holes I could find! Thanks!

8 x 16 ft enclosed run for 6 hens.Everything used in this project was recycled, repurposed or used( concrete blocks, construction waste and pallets) The screws, staples, latches, hinges, hardware cloth, heavy duty netting and bag of calcium hydroxide were my only expenses around$300. The top will temporarily be covered with netting until I get up another roll of hardware cloth for the top and apron.

I'm hoping to add 5-6 strands of electric fence around the sides after it is done due to the many predators we have( weasels, owls, hawks, raccoons, coyotes, bears )
Looks great!
