80 Year Old Woman Crimninal Charges for Feeding Ducks

One more issue about feeding the ducks that hasn't been mentioned.

It encourages people to abandon their unwanted ducks at the park. The thinking is: The ducks will be fine. There is water and other ducks to play with and people go by every day and feed them. They will never be hungry.

We have ducks at the local park here too "Cameron Park" ( muscovies, mallards and assorted domestic breeds that have been dumped. They have signs posted not to harrass the ducks nothing about not feeding them.. Except that all I ever see them being fed is bread and junk food.. When we go to walk dogs every so often I take them some Mazuri, cracked corn and dry cat food mixed up in a bag.. Some of the poor muscovies are really over weight.. I know it's from all the junk food people give them. I wish the park would set up a way for people to buy food that is good for them to feed them.. it would earn money for the up keep of park too.

I think the ducks there fare pretty good during the spring and summer. It's winter I think they have a hard time.. there is the brazos river that they have to swim in so hopefully there are plenty of minnows for them to eat .. just not much fresh grass..
the mallards come and go.. There are also 3 big domestic geese .

Not saying she has the right to break laws......

How many people would break a law if ,they place a dog out there ,illegal to feed it.......but the dog is not being fed. Some laws are just dumb.
What if people were dropping dogs off there, and they are pooping all over, like don't feed them.....heck no they would remove the dogs.

oh as far as the wild geese there are way to scare them away.

Just look up some of the crazy laws on the books....like one big city has a law if you drive a horseless carriage thru town you much have a man walking in front with a light.

Just some goverment passing a dumb law ,when thats not the cause of the problem.

Myself i think their law is just crazy.......now she need to try change it.

Like laws saying you can keep a few hens in the city.......don't make any more noise or mess than a dog......OH CAN YOU TELL I HATE DUMB LAWS

If someone puts food there the wild ducks will come, if the wild ducks are there people will drop off ducks. So maybe not a dumb law.

my guess that is her way of trying to change it.


Sure we wouldn't have anyone on this forum ,keeping chicken in Cities where it is illegal.


Also illegal to keep animals(duck) on your place and not feed them...........should that not hold true with a city park with duck , not being fed. so sure the city is also breaking a law.

I wonder how far Lynn is from me... i want to go feed the ducks now too..

Some of those ducks look like domestic ducks.. NO way they will survive the winter up here with out some help and food given to them..
They cant fly away to forage... what do people expect them to do??
I'd be feeding the dam ducks too..

the birds are going to defecate everywhere whether she feeds them or not. as someone else said, they don't care where they do it. I think it's a ridiculous law, and I support her right to break a useless law if she wants to, the personal responsibility of dealing with the legal consequences is on her. I think it's our duty as free people to break unjust laws. I also don't think it's necessary to waste taxpayer dollars going after someone for feeding ducks and geese at the park. I don't know where this occurred but I've never heard of anything like this. here in Texas we can feed the birds all we want
