My eggs are due to hatch Dec 31st, hopefully a few will hatch at mid night! Well, see!! I did put them in at 7pm at night, so it is very possible, unless ofcourse my little showgirls decide to hatch early!

I love seeing all these pictures everyone! Makes me want to hatch out a bunch of chick babys...

But ahh...im having terrible luck with hatching! The beautiful little lone chick i hatched out died today......the cat has somehow figured to open the incubator and i figured he did something to the baby....heartbroken...

I thought i secured the incubator, but i went to it at least 30 mins ago and the lid was completely off and ALL the eggs were ice cold...all are dead expect one which is due to hatch soon...but that has a massive crack along the side, the cat learnt how to roll eggs...looks like i wont be having a new years hatch...darn cat.

So sorry to hear this. My toddler got mine onece.

Show Girls!

We must have pictures when they hatch

*waves* Glad to see you made it to the thread :) What a pretty batch of eggs!

Thanks for joining us!

Thanks you guys! I'm excited about my eggs hatching on NYD. This is my third time incubating. The first batch was shipped and the other two were from my own chickens. Last time only about 50% were fertile and only about half of those hatched. This time, 38/42 were . I'm down to 36 now because of early quitters. But hey, that's not bad! Only a few more days until lockdown!!!

Love those green colors.. I've been working on a line of green egg laying Naked NecksI was left for almost two years with only one hen that is NN and lays a green egg. I've hatched just about every egg I could get from her trying for at least one pullet to continue her line. My last hatch from September something I finally got 2 pullets. So waiting one then to start cone spring.

Thank you!
green laying NN sounds awesome. I plan on doing something similar with my Polish. I want to breed fully crested blue/green layers. It will take several generations and my Polish haven't even started laying yet. It will be fun though. I hope your pullets lay green eggs for you.

I almost missed this post!
That's a very pretty egg! Congrats!

Thank you! She's laid 3 in 4 days now! Not bad for a new layer in the middle of the shortest days, especially an ameraucana. So proud! I might do a test run before the Valentine's Day hatch, because I've now seen two fertile eggs in my frying pan. Gonna save a few and see what happens!

Candled tonight and pulled 2 of my 3 marans eggs. Compared to the one that is actually developing, the other 2 weren't doing squat. I don't feel remorse pulling them. All the others seem to be doing well though and I'm super excited :) I'm placing bets that "H10" will be the first to pip/hatch. That's a home grown cross of Dark Cornish and Speckled Sussex. She's got one of the smallest eggs in there and the development of the egg seems to be at least a couple days ahead of the rest. Most are developing in tune, with 2-3 eggs that seem to be a smidge behind. Since we had guests tonight when I candled, I got to share some of the excitement of looking in an egg with one of my guests! Seeing them move is still one of the coolest things ever!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all! I hope you all had a chance to spend the day how you pleased :)
