5 out today! I stuck my hand in the brooder and they all climbed aboard. <3 trying the heating pad cave brooding method.
 
Oooooh, eat them!? How big are they at butcher time, and what week do they get butchered? This is all new to me, and interesting. Don't believe I ever ate quail before. I thought they'd be too small to bother eating.

Can they be released into the wild? I thought they were a wild bird?

they are a very small bird, you would need 2 to make a portion, but they are ready to process or lay at 6-8 weeks and lay daily

ETA: you probably need special permits to release them

Coturnix quail also are not native to the Americas. Bobwhites and Californias etc are though. No permit needed for Coturnixes here, but they shouldn't be released. Not a big flying species, either.

Since they are domesticated, I do not think they do well in the wild--They die in other words right?
