That is very exciting!
Nice!

Do you use a tube through a vent to add water to the sponge? I put a sponge into a food storage container and add water to the conainer when I need to add more moisture and the water channels are full.

I hope you see some soon!

Honestly, I added the sponge and aside from hitting it with the tube once to get it wet, I havent touched it again lol

I do use a piece of tubing. I was using like a feeder syringe but it continuously got more difficult to dispense the water. Found one of those meat injector style syringes and WAY better. Ive just been adding to the outer tray so far.

Oh no! This is bad. Hatching for all the holidays is enough but now for every month! Because you know I won't be able to control myself.

I'm trying to figure out how I can hatch in January and still have enough time to hatch again for Valentines Day. I better go check out the January Hatchalong thread.

No pips for me yet :hit

Me either!!!

Do they ever have trouble hatching from cartons like that? I always hate it when the unhatched eggs get kicked around by the chicks that hatch first. Keeping them in cartons would probably stop that from happening.
I have hatching trays and also use cartons for small hatches. The chicks hatch fine in them and it makes for easier clean up.

You can see the trays in this picture:

Okay so I took another look at my sponge and it was getting dry. Whoops! Fixed it

Sponges do dry out quickly!

I just set some eggs a few minutes ago for a January hatch. I'll try the egg cartons for hatching. Thank you :)

Is it just my anticipation dragging on the minutes, or do the first eggs to pip really take longer to hatch than the last eggs to pip?
I find that my first pip is usually the 2nd or later one to hatch. I don't think my first pip has EVER been the first to hatch.

Good morning/afternoon everyone!! I was WAY, way behind - I scrolled through, and I LOVE all the photos! I have to admit, I"m NOT a fan of showgirls though. Cute dogs and horses! Congratulations to all the pips, zips and hatching going on!

For my bator.....The poor ACs that got lost at the post office for a month were all duds. Most of the Blues made it, and most of my backyard mix green eggs made it to lockdown. I woke up to the smallest of the green eggs pipped. So, the fun is starting!!

Happy Hatching everyone!
