I have 9 8 week old sussex chick, there are a couple of them that are sneezing and wheezing when they breath. The are not gasping for air and they do not act like they are having trouble breathing. They are eating and drinking good, and act normal other than the sneezing and wheezing. They are still in the brooder at night, is it just dust? Should I be concerned? Should I give them anything for it? If so, what should I give them? THANKS

What kind of bedding are you using? How big is your brooder?

I am using pine shavings, the brooder is 4' long,30" tall, and 28" deep. They go out in there pen at about 8 in the moring and we put them in the brooder at about 6:30. After being out all day, they mainly just sleep in the brooder. I am building a roosting coupe saturday, and they will be out of the brooder.

Maybe the bedding is giving off a lot of dust? I know pine shavings have a tendency to do that. Eyes aren't watery or anything? Thats all I can think of, hopefully others will come along and give their opinion. GOOD LUCK!

no watery eyes and no drainage from the nose or anything. They look and act completly normal other than the sneezing and wheezing, I may be overreacting, I just have a good deal of money tied up in them.

GOOD LUCK, would love to see what others opinions & suggestions are!

I feel like it is just the dust from the brooder, but would like to be reassured. I hope to have them out of the brooder sat.

we're having the same issue minus the wheezing. Every once and a while I notice some chicks will sneeze. They're acting normal, everyone's eating, drinking, playing, etc... just the random sneeze. They are in their brooder already (with a heat lamp) and I do notice the new pine shavings I used are a bit more dusty than the previous shavings they were on. Is this sneezing harmless? Or should we change the bedding to something less dusty?
