I figured since Louis is a boy, he'd be more protective of her. I don't know if Spotty is a boy or girl yet so I left them in the run with the others.
Vuitton has a good appetite. I will be giving them some scrambled egg later with vitamins added in. Hubby asked if I could move Delft and her kids to the ivory coop, but with her being so aggressive I'm worried she'd attack the older chicks.

It’s been my experience with Mr P that they will pluck them and pick at them unrelentingly. You may find that she will not be able to run with them until she moults again. Or never if they learn to pick her all the time.

Look how long I have had Mr P in the Summer House, it’s been over a year now. I am hoping he can get out with the main gang around Christmas once he is all finished this moult. But this means I will then have to keep Clyde and/or Mr LC locked in the Summer House. I know I cannot run the Roos together, Mr P will fight them.

At the moment Clyde and Mr LC get along - mainly because Clyde puts the run on Mr LC. And really it’s just a matter of rotating the Roos around in the Summer House and the main part of the Barn, the big issue is whether or not those brats continue to pick at Mr P once he is done moulting and has his full feathers in.

If Laverne and her chums continue to pick at him then he will never be able to run with them again. Which is fine as they run with the other Roos anyways.

Who knew chickens were so violent?!
Many European Polish lovers keep Polish-only flocks ~ too gentle to mix w/ standard breeds maybe? They seem too gentle to be around standard breeds... it was that observation yrs ago that kept me from mixing Polish into our standard flock even tho I was fascinated by them.

Silkie owners were saying how surprisingly hardy/easy Silkes were in comparison so I took the owners at their experienced word, tried them, & for our situation it worked for us ~ Silkies worked so well we've always had them in the flock as long as there was always more than one Silkie to toodle together.

So many issues we flock owners never counted on when we started w/chickens. I never knew how much we faced w/ vet bills, vet medicines/&supplies/euthanasia, yard modifications, coop/run expenses, handicapped chicks, broodies, hen-i-tentiaries, quarantines, Mareck's, Avian Leukosis, Fowl Pox, bird orders shipping expenses, tube feeding, flock integrations, bullies, & rehoming birds.

Edit: Forgot to add predator concerns too.

I think I'd be a blithering idiot by now if not for BYC, youtube, & my great vet who once raised chickens himself!

Little man has arthritis in both rear legs.

Ooo very fancy - blue is her colour!

Poor wee man, Previcox is for dogs (and horses) for arthritis. I call it Celebrex for the horses ♥️

Darn chickens tried to steal Reenie’s Previcox this morning, I dropped it on the floor, horses get 1/4 of a tablet, dogs get a whole tablet due to the way their liver metabolizes it, I was a bit freaked out if the stuff could be used by chickens! I must look into this….

Anywhoooo see if you can this for you wee man.
