I'm a newbie. I have a total of three chickens. Nine month old RIR, seven month old Buff Orpington and 14 week old Barred Rock. My nine month old RIR who has been laying almost every day for over two months just quit. She laid beautiful brown eggs. Then things changed. First she laid two white eggs, both laid out of her box (even though she sat in her box like normal) and broken. Then she just quit. It's been four days now. The first two days she sat in her box like normal in the morning, but nothing. She even laid every day straight through the 6" of rain we got in two days, two weeks ago. About three weeks ago I introduced a new 10 week old PBR. I kept her separated for two weeks. Then, this last week, before my RIR stopped laying I put them together. That went okay. Alright, the only other thing is I also have a third hen, she is a 7 month old Buff Orp that has been with my RIR since she was 9 weeks old. They get along fine. The Buff Orp isn't laying yet but just started squatting and singing the egg song since the RIR stopped laying. I'm so worried about my RIR Reba. If she never laid again I could care less. She is my pet and always will be, however, it just made me feel assured to see her egg everyday. Like it was my sign that she was healthy and everything was fine. She has a very nice rosey comb. She is eating well. I have caught her several times drinking out of the dog bucket and some puddles. She eats layer crumbles that I have mixed in some DE. She also gets grapes, blueberries, yogurt, worms, slice of bread and cracked corn. She doesn't have mites or lice. She might look a little thin next to the Buff Orp, but the Orp is a bit fluffy. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!! Anyone?!
