9 week old buff Orpington - is it a she??

Hate to burst your bubble but you got a mixed breed orpington...and it appears you may need a boy name. I breed orpingtons if you wing sex them on day 2 you are about 90% accurate however, after that 2-3 day window it is very difficult to tell until they are about 4-5 months old as they are slow to mature, slow to lay and my pullets normally didn't reden up (get red wattles/combs) until 1 week before they laid. Best of luck!

@oldhenlikesdogs ?
LOL I'm not good at gender and breeds. The comb and wattles are red and large, but...I lean toward pullet. Comb is not straight, it does look like a pea comb as mentioned by @ChickNanny13

I tentatively say: pretty backyard mix Orpington pullet:D

BTW-
@RobertNZ we're glad your here and :welcome
Thanks! Glad to be here, so far the community has been fantastic and very helpful.

I hoping it's a girl as sold.. but certainly see the arguments for a roo. Might be a few weeks older than 9, possibly more like 11 but think that might be negligible. I'll follow up in a few more weeks as the beauty develops.

I'm happy to hear you are enjoying the BYC community!

LOL I suppose I'm "odd man out" on the verdict, but...it happens. I'm sorry that you aren't able to keep Roosters where you live. I do hope you will be able to rehome him if necessary.

9 or 11 weeks doesn't change my answer.

The comb on a pullet develops when she's near laying age. Even then, she wouldn't have a comb like this one has already. It's very masculine.
