What does it mean when only one of my 9 week old Buff Orpington's legs are a deep yellow? All the others have pale pinkish tan legs. When I purchased them I bought pullet chicks (90% accuracy). I have not heard any crowing and there is no other differences in my birds. Does anyone know?

I have one buff orp. the other critters got to it.
its legs are pinkish with white ??
she is 14 weeks old. and
i hatched her in my bator
I still am not sure if shes a he or she Lol

I had 5 buff orps and traded the roo and one hen. They all have identical coloring, but one hen has yellow-gold legs. No problem - I just call her "Goldilegs."

The others all have whitish pink legs. I'm assuming it's a normal genetic variation...

I'm interested in what posts you get on this! Thanks for bringing it up!

If you have hatch Orps and get one with yellow legs, most likely someone in the past had a Buff Rock in their flock. They may not have noticed or just didn't know better. It could have been in a flock several generations back and will just randomly pop up in the offspring.

If breeding for show then you would Cull any yellow leggers. If they are just layers or pets, then enjoy the yellow fluff butt.
