Once in a great while, my hen throws up what I think is water. Ive heard that it's a common thing but the thing is that her "throw up" is clear yellow. Could this be because her feed is yellow? Thank in advance!

I would post this in the emergency section.
Also you need to include more information.
Age?
breed?
What feed are your chickens on?
Are they free range?
What is the weather like where you are.
Do they have a covered area to hide away ?
What is the floor like in their coop? Wet? Dry? Pine shavings?
Do you have DE in the coop for dusting ?
Do you have a compost pile that they can access?
Please post in Emergency section you might get more responses.

Thanks and Good Luck with your Chickie!

She is 9 weeks old
RIR
She is finishing up whats left of the starter feed which is not much
NOT free range
I live in Honolulu so it's pretty sunny
She stays in a coop that is about 3 feet off the ground so that cats cant bother her and her sister
The floor is chicken wire so it is very dry, I put news paper inside so that they are comfy when they sleep
I DO NOT have a compost pile

is she throwing up only when you hold her or when she is alone? if she does it when your holding her then you could be pushing on her crop im pretty sure alot of bycers have done this with there chickens not on purpose.

Shes never done it when shes being held. Like today, she was lying down right before she "threw up." Shes only done it twice, today and about 3-4 weeks ago.

Does it by chance happen right after you change or refill the water? If a chicken is too thirsty, it can drink too fast and throw up from that. Are they in the shade? Do they get anything to eat besides starter, any treats? Has her food gotten damp, from rain or water spillage? You said she is finishing up her starter feed; sounds like you only have two chickens. Was it a big bag of feed, like 50 lbs? It may have gotten spoiled or moldy. How does it smell to you? You could go ahead and get some fresh feed and see if that helps.

It could be a crop problem. Check her crop morning and evening and see if it seems to empty overnight and fill during the day. There are several threads linked on the FAQ page about sour crop and impacted crop. It does not sound like hers is impacted but she could still have a problem in there or in her digestive tract.

If vet care is not an option, you could try giving probiotics and vitamins, a tsp of plain live culture yogurt a day, or probiotics from the feed store, and a drop or two of infant vitamins without iron on the side of the beak. You could try adding organic apple cider vinegar to the water.

Here is an article about sour crop:

Perhaps something in the article will sound like it fits your situation. I don't know what is wrong, obviously, and it's certainly likely I haven't thought of a lot of things; I am no vet.

This has not happen very often, this is only the second time in 4 weeks that she has done so. They always have clean water. They are ALWAYS in the shade. They DO NOT get anything to eat besides starter feed. Her food did NOT get damp from rain or water spillage. The food and water are far apart so that they would not get into each other. Yes, I do only have 2 hens. The bag of feed was ONLY 5 LBs and is kept in a sealed container out of the sun and rain. It is very fresh, only bought 2 weeks ago.

Like I've said, I do not think it is a crop problem. I checked her and her crop does not feel hard or inflated. I have already checked threads on sour crop and impacted crop. That is why I'm not as worried as I would have been if I didnt check them.

Thank you for the consern and helpful advice

I kinda just want to know why its yellow...
