I've been hatching. The 1st to hatch, Jan 29th are fully feathered. They have been in a separate coop I opened it up a few days ago, letting them mingle with my older birds. Now I need to get 4 wk olds out of the brooder and want to put them in the coop that I had the 1st hatch in. I'm thinking I'll lock the 1st hatch out and keep the 4 wl olds inside with a heat light. I'm in Alaska and we still have snow on the ground.
Now the problem, the young don't need layer feed, and the layers don't need chick starter, so how do I do the food thing if the 1st hatch and older birds are together. Or should I put the 4 wk olds in with the 1st hatch and hope they don't get killed.
If you can understand what I'm trying to say.....please answer and help me decide what to do!!!!! THANKS!
